Microsoft Sculpt wireless numeric keypad stopped working.I hate to say it but no, despite great effort and a sacrifice of productivity to figure it all out, I had no success and I had to send it back; for a while I was swapping between the Sculpt and a cheap wired keyboard for numeric data entry. I finally sendback the Sculpt when I found the Sculpt Comfort which did not work out well. Prior to the Sculpt I had no interest in an ergo keyboard/mouse, I used the wired $1.Dell keyboard & mouse and never thought much of it. I'm now on my third ergo keyboard experience and not excited about the prospects. I may end up spending the rest ofmy life seeking an equal replacement. I really REALLY love the sculpt keyboard! The keyboard is very well designed and perfect in every way.. Download Recipe Book In Marathi Recipe . It's everything ergo awesomeness should be! The mouse is awesome as well, it is responsive and feels like an extension of me. I don't typically gettoo attached to a thing but I was preaching it to all my co- workers, telling them to ditch their ergo keyboard for the sculpt. One of them reminded me that they miss hearing me announce "this keyboard rocks!" at regular intervals, yes I loved it that much. The whole thing made me forget I was typing.. As you have discovered, the keypad apparently eats up batteries or has trouble maintaining a connections. Since there is no "connection status light" or button on the keypad, trouble shooting is neigh impossible. 2) the numeric keypad is too light, whenever you type with it the keypad jumps around (I double sided sticky taped mine to the keyboard tray),3) the keypad is not angled/articulated like the keyboard which makes it weird to reach over and transition from typing on the keyboard to reaching over and entering numbers/digits on the keypad ( I cut an angular piece of rubber that was lying around and tapedit to one end of the keypad to lift it at the same angle as the keyboard). All to say I lamented sending back again, I think for home use (where the keypad is not used much) it would be fine, however for professional tasks that require a lot of numeric data entry it's simply not functional. When I sent back my second Sculpt I ordered a MS Sculpt Comfort: (http: //www. Microsoft- Sculpt- Comfort- Desktop/3. Google. Base& cm_ite=3. NA- NA- MIC_KB& cm_ven=Shopping. Feeds& ef_id=VAXpk. AAABAOfjp. Z4: 2. COy. 8irnzws. ACFQm. Bfgod. G7w. AOg)I got the Comfort thinking "Its the same as the Sculpt I love but the keypad is connected like it should be!" That is not the case at all. The mouse is very different (flattened/shallow, not balled in your hand) and I did not like it, it didn't feel right. The wrist pad was off some how, I couldn't pin point it. The keyboard is not the same Sculpt style, where the sculpt arches up in the middle, the Comfort is a sort of wavy curve that rises and depresses making some keys too close and others too far.. I had the Comfort for two weeks then went back to a normal cheap keyboard for a little while but I found that the ergo keyboards did help my posture and my fingers wanted to have the awesomeness of the Sculpt again so. I gave ergo keyboards another try. This post is now officially becoming a review, but that's just how its going to be as my experience will hopefully assist someone with finding that perfect keyboard or maybe help MS make improvements in their designs. I'm in my third or fourth week of using the MS Natural Ergonomic 7. I have several co- workers who love the 7. Sculpt experience). The keyboard layout is not as smooth as the Sculpt, the keys are a more standard deep button press, not the light touch of the Sculpt. Buttons that should be large (like "ENTER") are small and other keys like Ctrl & ~ are massive.. the function keys (e. F1, F2, F3) are small and far a way. I feel like all the letter keys are small. With the Sculpt it was my third week when my typos ceased and my speed picked up significantly (I am convinced the Sculpt had me typing at least 1. I'm making more errors than ever and I feel like I'm 1. The 7. 00. 0's mouse is weird; sluggish in some ways and too fast in others. It sounds weird but the pointer movement response is out of sync; both hyper and delayed in the same movement. I've tweaked the settings time and again, but resigned that for it tofunction at its best you have to just accept that the pointer moves crazy fast when making bigger movements; yet when the pointer nears its destination and is moving precisely/slower it is sluggish and unresponsive, reaching its destination for that clickfeels imprecise. (In typing this I have used the mouse to select where I need to insert and new word or missing letter/fix a typo and it takes effort to click between the correct letters, I have to slowly ease it in to the right spot. I am fighting thenew habit of clicking as close as it will let me then either using the arrow keys (which are too small) or click again until I get the right spot. With more technical programs like Auto. CAD or Arc. GIS I find that at times I have difficulty getting the mouseto click exactly where I need it to, it takes effort to be precise when it really counts; having used these programs professionally for more than 7 years I can say the mouse has slowed my workflows. My co- workers agree that the mouse has some oddities butthey are not bothered by them. I use the scroll wheel a ton in my work tasks and (I know this sounds silly and odd) the 7. I have tweaked the scroll rate settings which helps in some programs but is not functional in others (e. Excel or WORD or Adobe, or CAD or Arc. GIS, or BB, etc). With other wheels (like the Sculpt mouse) you don't even realize you are scrolling, with the 7. My co- worker tells me that I used to never comment no my computer hardware and now I regularly vent frustration with this Mouse.. Sculpt cause it made me a happier person.Again, if you don't use the numeric pad the Sculpt is the bomb. Also my co- workers love the 7. How To Install Vlc On Mac Mini . I think I can learn to live with the keyboard until something better comes along (like the Sculpt 2. I will definitelybe buying the Sculpt mouse soon. Hope something in all of this helps someone else out in their ergo search!
